My name is Monika Palánová. I am a mum, an English language tutor, and a preschool teacher. I have been working with preschool children for more than 10 years, with a particular focus on teaching English. I specialize in utilizing the full potential of young children to naturally acquire a foreign language, while also developing their other abilities and skills.
I consider early exposure to English at home in childhood to be a very effective way to successfully master a foreign language.
For many parents, however, the path of introducing English at home, even if they are proficient in the language, can be a challenging choice. That’s why I have created this course, „English Adventures with Billy“

Each lesson starts with a motivational video featuring Billy, the little character, who introduces the lesson topic in a fun way and prepares the space for you to continue with the activities.
The course includes 22 creative activities with instructions and printable materials you’ll need for crafting. All other supplies can be found in a clear list, so you can prepare them in advance.
Each weekly lesson includes a direct link to a video and audio version of an English song or rhyme carefully selected to match the theme. They are often accompanied by movement or another activity.

For each lesson, there are 5 book recommendations on the given topic for children who are just starting with English.

Practical information
Who is the course for?
English Adventures with Billy is an English course designed for children aged 3-6 years and their parents, who act as their language guides. The prerequisite for successfully completing the course is that at least one parent speaks English. This course is unique in that it is not only focused on developing English language skills but also fosters the development of all of the child’s intelligences. It is based on Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Therefore it is suitable for children who are homeschooled or as a supplement to the educational offer in kindergartens.
When do we start?
The course opens on September 1, 2025. You will have access to the course for 2 years. The pace of the course can be adjusted to your needs, however, the themes are based on the current season and the child’s environment. Therefore, I recommend this course for the autumn and winter months.

What level of English do I need to guide my child through the course?
The minimum recommended English level for parents or teachers is B1-B2. You need to feel comfortable speaking. Is speaking English natural for you? Can you describe what you’re doing at the moment? What objects are around you? These are key skills for successfully guiding your child through the course. However, you don’t need to use complex grammatical sentences. It’s enough to speak simply, but correctly. The course also includes notes on tricky vocabulary for specific activities, and you can always use a dictionary for help. Every week, there’s a song or poem available in both audio and video versions, so your child will also be exposed to English spoken by a native speaker.)
Is the course suitable for early childhood education settings?
The course is primarily designed for home use. However, nearly all activities can be used in a classroom with multiple children. It can be effectively utilized as part of a daily preschool program. It saves time on activity preparation, is fun, and adds a dimension of holistic child development.
Is the course suitable for children who already have some basic knowledge of English?
Since the course focuses on holistic child development and acquiring English as a communication tool, rather than just learning new vocabulary, it is suitable for children who are just starting with English as well as for those who already have some basic knowledge.
What does it mean that the course develops children holistically?
The course is methodologically designed to develop not only the English language but also critical thinking and creativity. These skills are, in our belief, some of the most important goals of education today. Research shows that these abilities can be developed in young children when activities are focused on more than one type of intelligence. The course is designed using Howard Gardner’s Theory of multiple intelligences.
Can I guide multiple children through the course at the same time?
Definitely! In fact, we recommend it. „English Adventures with Billy“ has been tested with the concept of two families working together through the course, with some parts being done together. This has worked very well for us. Especially because some activities will be more fun for the children if they do them with a sibling or friend. Additionally, if you want to develop interpersonal (social) intelligence, having a partner is essential in this course.
„English Adventures with Billy“ currently doesn’t have a follow-up course. How can I continue with English with my child after the course ends?
After completing the course, both you and your child will be well prepared to start speaking English in various everyday situations. If you want to start speaking to your child entirely or partially in English, it shouldn’t be difficult at all after the course. You can also reuse the course activities over and over in the coming years, whether for the same child, siblings, or even for learning another language.
